“Bear Hug” Finished

5 06 2014

While quilting Cindy’s “Bear Hug” quilt last week, I was motivated to try the pattern using a truck/car/bus print for the giant center square.

The quilt was quick and fun to make with a fat quarter of the theme print, 1/2 yd. of orange tone-on-tone, and quater yard cuts of 4 coordinating tone-on-tones (green, yellow, blue, and red).

Inspired by a freehand quilting design in Mindful Meandering by Laura Lee Fritz, I practiced my idea for cars and pick-up trucks on a white board.

Satisfied with the flow of the loops and curves, I quilted the vehicles with variegated thread diagonally across the quilt. This involved a bit of advancing and reversing the rollers on my longarm, so I was glad the quilt was small.

Won’t a baby boy enjoy “tummy time” in the backyard on this bright quilt?DSCN6320

this is treat and lucky you having a long arm quilter, mind you it would not be much help to me as I still have not mastered the art of quillting

That’s a great quilting pattern Aby! And I love the bright cheery quilt too – a quick pattern for a little one.
