Young Quiltmakers

6 08 2012

Krystine (12), Keith (10), and Kaleb (8), my “adopted grandchildren” visited me this week. Swimming, lawn croquet, Backyard Bible Club, a treasure hunt, nature scavenger hunt, and hours spent constructing  lego castles and boats were on the agenda. However, we escaped to my sewing room for several hours on Saturday to make an American Girl doll quilt from a pack of 5″ squares. Here’s Krystine proudly trimming her quilt.

Not to be outdone, Kaleb sewed several quilt squares as blankets for his stuffed toys, Fluff Ball and Moo Moo.

Keith enjoyed designing with precut squares and rectangles, tangram style.

The children had fun learning new skills, and I enjoyed helping them be successful with my favorite passtime! And there’s talk of going to the quilt shop tomorrow to select fabric for bed quilts.
