Sparkling Gemstones

Have you ever wondered what to do with your Jelly Roll (40  2 1/2″ wide strips) of batik fabrics? They look so bright and beautiful coiled around each other. Yes, you could continue to use them as sewing room 3-D art . . . or you could unwind the roll and make a lap quilt! Trinity S. selected a batik 2 1/2″ strip collection at Loving Stitches quilt shop. Her favorite quilts found in an internet search for “Jelly Roll quilt images” was the “Sparkling Gemstones” pattern published in Jelly Roll Quilts by Pam & Nicky Lintott.

Trinity’s Sparkling Gemstones

Trinity designed the back of her quilt to utilize all the scrap pieces. The longarm pantograph design is “Splash” which I selected for texture. The gray quilting thread does not detract from the colorful patchwork.
