New Home for Orphan Blocks

9 03 2013

My quilting friend, Karlyn, is planning a retreat for our Bible study group. She’d like to decorate the ten dining tables with 14″ quilted squares, so she asked if our quilting circle could help with the project. Certainly!

I considered making Friendship Star blocks, but then I remembered my container of orphan blocks … leftovers from exchanges, Block of the Month winnings, experiments, overage for quilts already made, etc.DSCN4023

I had more than enough orphan blocks and most were 9″ or 10″ square. DSCN4028Bordered with 3″ strips, these orphan blocks will make colorful and homey decorations for our retreat. And ten lucky ladies will take them home as door prizes!DSCN4024

Thankfully, members of the quilting circle are now adept at binding the machine quilted squares!DSCN4033
