“Spring is Bustin’ Out All Over”

13 03 2013

Despite cold evening temperatures, daffodils are pushing their way out of the ground and bravely blooming. The yellows and oranges are so cheerful, heralding springtime with flair.

How about a yellow quilt to go with the yellow blooms?DSCN3807

This is a wedding gift; the bride’s favorite colors are yellow and white. Isn’t the Joel Dewberry large scale print gorgeous? I didn’t want to dissect it into tiny pieces, so I cut a 40″ square in half diagonally and inserted 2 rows of 9″ Friendship Star blocks. The black micro-stripe separates the patchwork rows and makes a tidy binding.DSCN3808

If you’d like to hear some peppy springtime music by theater organist Jane McKee Johnson, it’s here on You Tube. “Spring is Bustin’ Out All Over.”
