Chris’ Projects

26 04 2013

This week I have been quilting several small quilts for Chris. Would you like to see them?

Here is “Long May You Wave” based on “All in the Family.”  It was designed by Sue Harvey and Sandy Boobar, found in the Aug./Sept. 2012 issue of The Quilter. I love the patriotic fabrics Chris selected. In keeping with the Americana theme, I quilted stars and loops all over the quilt.

Chris added interest to the quilt back with the addition of three stars from leftover fabric.

“Picture Frames” is a wonderful quilt for spring with orange as the wake-up color. The original pattern is by Jean Ann Wright, found in the Aug./Sept. 2012 issue of The Quilter.

I considered quilting concentric squares and rectangles on this quilt as I did for my “Balance” quilt, but opted instead for an all-over design of large flowers and leaves in bright variegated thread.

Also from the Aug./Sept. 2012 issue of The Quilter is “Wow and Meow.” The designer, Helen Weinman, named her quilt “Vineyard Roses.” Aren’t Chris’ fabrics fun? A little boy is going to love this quilt!

Taking my cue from the kitten’s ball of string and the circles in the fabric print, I quilted spirals all over the quilt in gold thread.

More kitty cat fabric is in “Fit for a Princess” designed by Michele Crawford and found in The Quilter Aug./Sept. 2012. Chris’ use of red in the center of the quilt really draws attention to the pinwheel patchwork design.

I used variegated thread to quilt a Dwirling design all over the quilt. You can watch a demonstration of Dwirling on this You Tube video.

Chris gets the prize for making four quilts from the same magazine issue! Lovely work!
