During the past year, Kathy and I traded 3″ Roman Stripes blocks for our “Ice Cream Sandwiches” quilts. In a previous post, I blogged about my rendition of the quilt published by Edyta Sitar. You can read about it here.
Kathy sent me her version of the quilt to quilt (and to show on this blog). As you can see, she followed Edyta’s layout.
Isn’t this a wonderfully scrappy quilt?
I quilted Kathy’s quilt with a “Dwirling” with spirals design. You can watch a You Tube video of this quilting design here.
Quilting Kathy’s quilt motivated me to quilt my own quilt top. I also “dwirled” in the patchwork areas. I freehanded a fern in the green outer border and in the 6″ wide cream internal border.
Kathy plans to bind her quilt with scrappy, colorful fabric. I used a gold print for the binding to match the decor of my sister’s bedroom. Liz chose this quilt as her wedding gift from me.
