“Charmville” QAL #6

10 02 2014

It’s Monday . . . time for me to encourage you in the process of making “Charmville.” How is it going? Are you ready to sew the three rows of houses together? Tip: Measure the length of each row to make sure all three are the same. All those spacers between the houses tend to add or subtract a little from the ideal length listed in the magazine. Trim the rows the same length before sewing them together.

Several quilters have requested my source for the black print with lines of wavy white dots that I used for the streets beneath the “Charmville” houses. I purchased the fabric from JoAnn’s Fabric and Craft Store on their “calico wall.” Of course, you could substitue another black print.

“Charmville” is published in the Feb./Mar. 2013 issue of McCall’s Quick Quilts.

It’s not too late to join the Quilt-A-Long!

Every now and then, I check Camille Roskelley’s blog. This talented young quilter designs fabrics for moda as well as patterns that feature her fabrics. Click here to see Camille’s “dwell” mini quilt of houses. They are darling – with chimneys and doors and pinwheels. Perhaps you’d like to purchase her pattern and intermix some “Charmville” houses with some from “dwell.”

Leave a comment or question below if you are having a problem assembling “Charmville.” Perhaps I can help you solve the issue.
