Brown Bag Challenge Revealed

19 05 2014

In January, Sharon, the Tarheel Quilters Guild “Challenges” chairwoman, proposed a brown bag fabric challenge. You can read about the guidelines here.

At our guild meeting on Sunday, May 18th, the thirteen participants brought the completed quilts for viewers’ choice voting and also to return them to their owners.

With the fabric in my paper bag I was inspired to make a table runner. And then I re-read the rules which stipulated a wall quilt. So I make a coordinating wall quilt. Nancy was the surprised and pleased recipient of both. “Striking” was her descriptive word.

Donna drew the number for my paper sack which contained these fabrics.

She made an original meadow scene complete with realistic butterflies and a chicken crossing the road. Isn’t this absolutely fun?! Donna said it was very challenging to work with these print fabrics because she usually sews only with batiks.

All of the participants were so pleased with their quilts and the guild members thought it hilarious that some didn’t recognize the fabrics they had contributed for the challenge!
