Were you one of the twenty-plus “Slant Six” Mystery Quilt QAL participants? Or were you one of those quilters who doesn’t like mysteries— you were waiting to see the quilt before committing your time and fabric to make it?
Either way, today is the day the QAL is complete, and you may see the final quilt! The name “Slant Six” is derived from six inch blocks placed so the accent fabric is on a slant (diagonal).
Several participants emailed me pictures of their guesses. And they were “right on the money.”
The first to weigh in was Kathrin. Hooray Black Forest Quilters of Stuttgart, Germany!
Kathrin also thought of setting the blocks on point, a nice idea if you don’t mind making an extra block and trimming off the triangles on the edges of the quilt.
Judy, also a BFQ member, submitted three layout ideas. That bright yellow is really eye-catching!
Courtney from the Quilting Circle here in Fayetteville sent two designs.
I like the strong diamond shape formed by the red squares in her alternate quilt layout idea.
Deborah, in faraway Taiwan, sent in her best guess . . . which happened to be right.
Congratulations, ladies, you have won a copy of the Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks magazine. Let me know if you would like volume 9 or volume 10.
Oh, and here’s my “Slant Six” quilt. You will find the final page of instructions on the “Mystery Quilt” page of my blog.
In keeping with my flip-flop theme, here’s a pool side photo.
I would love to show blog readers a picture of your “Slant Six” mystery quilt. Please send a digital picture to aby dot quilts at gmail dot com.
