Day 5–the final day of the blog tour for Quiltmaker’s 100 Blocks, Vol. 10. Your last chance to register for prizes on Quilty Pleasures, Quiltmaker’s blog. Click the icon below to link with the blog and access the list of designers on today’s portion of the blog tour.
I’d like to show you block #980, “Cottage Blooms,” designed by Susan Knapp.
Susan’s innovative method of construction greatly simplified the piecing of this block. Begin by making the block shown below according to the directions.
Then add the green triangles in the corners.
The photo above shows a green square placed right sides together and sewn on the diagonal.
Flip the resulting triangle toward the corner and press. Flip the triangle back and trim away the excess seam allowance.
Awesome idea! Check out The Quilt Branch’s web page, quiltbranch.com, to see more quilts and rulers designed by Susan Knapp and Mary Jane Mattingly.
