Summer is officially drawing to a close, and I am happy to report that I have finished the top of “Crabapples,” a scrappy quilt designed by Bonnie Hunter published in Adventures with Leaders and Enders.
Since the quilt has so many pieces, I thought it would take a long time to make. But once the tree blocks were assembled by Bonnie’s leader/ender method, the top came together in a couple of hours. Fortunately, Loving Stitches, my local quilt shop had more of the orange/red sashing fabric; I really wanted that particular color to separate the “Nine Patch” border from the outer leaf print border. And I’ll use it for binding, too.
