“Crabapples” Summer Sewing Project Update

Crabapples topSummer is officially drawing to a close, and I am happy to report that I have finished the top of “Crabapples,” a scrappy quilt designed by Bonnie Hunter published in Adventures with Leaders and Enders.

Since the quilt has so many pieces, I thought it would take a long time to make. But once the tree blocks were assembled by Bonnie’s leader/ender method, the top came together in a couple of hours. Fortunately, Loving Stitches, my local quilt shop had more of the orange/red sashing fabric; I really wanted that particular color to separate the “Nine Patch” border from the outer leaf print border. And I’ll use it for binding, too.

You can read about the beginning of this project here, here, and here. Next step – loading “her” on the longarm quilting machine!

  1. The middle, of course is almost like mine, as you originally gave ME the green fabric for the setting squares. I like the orange you used!
