A Placemat for Kingston

Kingston and his mom visited us for several days in June. He sure had fun swimming, boating, and fishing in our small lake! The visit was not quite long enough for me to give him quilting lessons, but I did persuade him to design a placemat from 3″ squares. . . and that rectangle of dinosaur fabric leftover from grandson David’s birthday quilt.

I used an orphan block with coordinating fabrics for the back of the placemat. These fabrics are leftover from the quilt his aunt Trinity made him last November.

For a quilting design, I meandered with muted blue thread. Navy blue is the perfect binding color as it coordinates with the colors on both sides of the placemat.

I wonder which side of this reversible placemat Kingston will prefer.
