Hello Quilting Friends. I have exciting quilty news to share! I have designed a Block of the Month quilt for you. It will begin on January 1st. I am announcing the Quilt Along now for several reasons.
- By announcing an upcoming project now, I’m giving you time to finish a couple of your UFOs so you will feel free to participate in a new quilt project.
- You might like to purchase your fabric for the project during pre-holiday or post-holiday sales.
- Or you might like to ask Santa for the fabric for the project.
- In addition, you would probably enjoy looking forward to the excitement of beginning new project after holiday gaiety has subsided.
The name of the sampler quilt is “Sisters;” there’s a Big Sister 12″ block and a Little Sister 6″ block of each patchwork design. So each month you’ll make two blocks – a 12″ and a 6.” The quilt measures 68″ x 75.”
1 pkg. 10″ squares, 42 total. Choose a package containing mostly medium and dark fabrics (if your background will be light) OR 12-15 fat quarters
3 yds. light background fabric
1 1/2 yds. light background fabric for sashing between columns as well as 1st border, can be the same or slightly different than the 3 yds. listed above
1 1/2 yds. dark outer border fabric
4 1/2 yds. backing fabric
3/4 yd. binding fabric
Please leave a comment below if you are interested in participating in the “Sisters” Block of the Month in 2020. A commitment of at least 10 participants will make the time spent in pattern writing worthwhile.
