“Star Baker” Published!

Guess what showed up in my mailbox this past week?! The May/June 2020 issue of McCall’s Quilting is hot off the press, and I’m excited to say that my table runner design is included.

I made the runner with a charm pack of 5″ squares of “We Whisk You a Merry Christmas” and some solid black yardage. The editors suggest that spring is the perfect time to steal a march on holiday sewing for your own decorating or gift giving. You might even have a charm pack or two lurking in your sewing room just begging to be used. “Star Baker” is a quick and easy project; I know you will love the results!

Here’s Karen showing her runner in yellow and blue florals – so popular just now.

Quilting Daily has graciously provided me with two copies to give away to blog readers. If you would like to be entered in the drawing, leave a comment below stating what colors or theme you envision making “Star Baker” with. The drawing will be March 30.

  1. Well done Aby! This looks like a project I could handle and I would make it in pink, blue, and green, all pastel shades.

  2. Congratulations on another quilt pattern publication. I always love stars. I’d probably go for very bright colors against a dark background.

  3. Love the stars and I definitely have some charm packs in my collection. Would probably use blue- my fave. Thanks for the opportunity to win a magazine.

  4. With a nice thought of Christmas wouldn’t reds and greens and ur black background be just GREAT, but also blues and creams and thinking about snow and nice things to think about now, all take care.

  5. Star Baker is so pretty, Aby! I have some fall leaves charm packs, but I just might have to go blue and yellow, as I love that color combination.

  6. I would love to do sunflower yellow and white for spring because we all need some cheerful spring colors to brighten our days

  7. I liked the black background you chose but I think I’d go with a dark gray background with the stars in brights…a golden yellow, green to tie in my walls, and some large scraps left over in geometrics of dark red, greens and blues, as well as gold and black .

  8. I think I’d dig through my stash and sew up some purple stars with green accents. Those are my niece’s favorite colors. She is a nurse in an Emergency Department outside of Seattle and I think she could use a lift these days.

  9. With a name like Star Baker, I would have to find some cute kitchen themed prints that would work well with black & then go watch some episodes of the British Baking Show!

  10. Its my first time to comment here: Theme fabrics like sailing, beaches, anchors, lighthouse, crabs may work well with this pattern. Summer will be here soon . People sailing at night, or at beach, looking at stars at night. Seems perfect for this pattern.
