Sew ‘n’ Sews Share

As I’ve mentioned before, I enjoy attending the Sew ‘n’ Sews, a sewing/quilting/crafting group that meets at my church on Wednesday mornings. This year most of the ladies are quilting along on the “Options” block of the month project. They are such eager beavers that many of them have already completed all three variations of “Scrappy Stars” which is block #1. Here’s a conglomerate picture of our blocks.

Colleen loved this quick and easy patchwork block so much that she made a baby quilt top of twelve stars. The scrappy patchwork border adds even more fun and color to her vibrant design.

The “Scrappy Stars” quilt is a gift for a friend’s second baby girl, and Colleen is making a doll quilt out of the triangles trimmed from the star points for the older daughter.

Way to go, Sew ‘n’ Sews! Thanks for sharing your progress!

You can find instructions for Block #1 by clicking “Options BOM QAL” in the menu. You will navigate to a blog page with several printer friendly downloadable PDFs. Be sure to read the introductory docs first as they detail the yardage needed and show line drawings of the blocks we’ll make this year. The BOM is free, and I would love for you to spread the word to your quilting friends, quilting bees and guilds. You may share pictures of your blocks on Instagram with #optionsqal, and you may send pictures of your blocks to

  1. Wow you sew n’ sew ladies are FAST!! I’m still mulling over my final fabric choices! Yikes. I need to get off my duff and just choose so I can start making one of those tumbleweed options. They look so fun.

  2. These blocks are amazing! I miss everyone. We move to WI at the end of March. On to next part of our journey. Now, you have a place to stay if you guys ever venture that far North!
