It’s July 1st and time for me to publish the instructions for our sixth Block of the Month in this year’s “Options” Quilt Along. “Churn Dash” or “Hole in the Barn Door” is a long-time favorite design among quilters. It has enjoyed popularity with beginning and experienced quilters alike because the piecing is fairly simple, yet the center square provides space for creative options.
I asked Tina to test the instructions for me, and she feels they are “good to go.” So I can’t wait to see the options you dream up for your “Churn Dash” blocks! (Isn’t her 3-D Pinwheel darling?)
To find instructions for “Churn Dash,” click on “Options BOM QAL” in the menu. You will travel to a blog page with background information for the “Options” quilt as well as instructions for blocks 1-6. If you are new to the abyquilts blog, I welcome you to join the fun of this year’s quilt along. I suggest making “Churn Dash” this month and work backwards to catch up. On July 31st, I’ll offer the opportunity for those who have made their “Churn Dash” blocks to comment “Done” and thereby be entered in a drawing for a free quilting magazine.
When you finish making your blocks, you can email a picture to firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also post a picture on Instagram #optionsqal.
