Info for the “Dashing Table Runner” QAL

Many of you shared my enthusiasm for making a table runner from 5″ charm squares (and a bit of yardage). Thanks for your encouraging comments and your excitement about participating in a Quilt Along. Let’s schedule the Quilt Along for Labor Day Weekend, Sept. 2-6.

A Dashing Table Runner

Here is the Quilt Along schedule. (Click here to link to the Patterns page of this blog for a printer-friendly document. Once there, you’ll see a picture of the table runner followed by a black “Download” button. Click the button and print the document.)

August – Shop for fabrics. Think about where you will use your runner, perhaps on a dining table, a buffet, a bureau or chest of drawers, on top of a trunk or chest; choose colors that will celebrate a season or blend with existing décor.

  1. I’m in and I have just ordered my Halloween fabrics from the Fat Quarter Shop, so this is perfect timing! I’ve ordered some cool yardage (sparkle #SC10570 in eggshell and a yard in grey) that will be perfect for fussy cuts from the “Spooky Hollow” collection by Melissa Mortenson for Riley Blake Designs.

I also ordered some background and general piecing “dots” fabrics in orange/black, orange/orange, grey/black and purple/black. The only thing I “forgot” was to get myself more lime green. Oh well. I have so much olive green and pine green I figured I have enough other colors for Halloween and need to use up my less neon greens for Christmas trees–I have several Christmas tree ideas for this year!

Will I really have to decide which colors will be which before I start? I love designing as I go LOL Different strokes, eh?

  2. Aby, this looks like sooo much fun. I am planning to join the QAL. Will post photos of fabrics. Ann J

  3. Really look forward to it. We are finally neighbors. We moved in the 30th. Where do you live? We are at 1007 S. 8th St. Can hardly get in my quilt room and have unpacked 4 boxes already. It is going to be great. Love being in Lillington.
