I Won!

Sew There! Quilts and More celebrated its five year anniversary on January 5th. I love this small quilt shop on Depot St. in Angier, NC. The owner, Bonnie, set up a color wall of solids and tone-on-tones, and she stocks pre-cuts as well as kits and seasonal fabrics for home decorating. You can find fabrics for babies, toddlers, and teens as well as batiks, 1930s reproduction prints, and Americana themed fabrics. Her offering of printed panels is extensive. Sew There! is a Janome sewing machine dealer, and Valerie can longarm your quilt top on Janome’s machine in the shop.

As a frequent shopper, “Aby” was entered in the anniversary celebration drawing. The prizes? Five quilts to represent the five years of being in business. Mine was the 5th name drawn, and I won this beautiful quilt! What a lovely surprise and generous gift!

Valerie pieced and quilted the quilt as a shop sample to advertise the fabric line of dear forest animals. I believe the patchwork pattern was featured in a recent “Block” magazine by Missouri Star Quilt Company.

By the way, I will teach a beginner’s class, “Simple Irish Chain,” beginning next Thursday evening at Sew There! I am also facilitating the “Favorites” Block of the Month second Saturdays beginning in February. If you live locally, please join us for fun patchwork adventures. Call the shop to reserve your spot: 919-331-2499.

  1. Congratulations, Aby! I met the shop owner when we went to the show in Sanford last week. She’s seems like a very nice lady. The woman helping her kept telling us what a wonderful shop it is. I plan to visit it sometime soon. I hope you have a warm and safe weekend.

  2. Congrats! I love Bonnie’s shop too and although I didn’t get my Janome mid arm MemoryCraft 8399 QCP from her she has helped me more than once getting parts or service for it.

I think Bonnie has been having people sign up for classes in line though, not by phone, and I know your Saturday class has 2 sessions and the first one is totally filled up but the second one still has spots here

I think the Irish Chain on Jan 27 is here

Have fun. With a positivity rate of 34% in NC (not safe above 3-5%) I cannot risk COVID exposure but will look forward to post pandemic times when I can finally come join in (and I’ll be doing Favorites at home on my own)

  3. For some weird reason my comment requires moderation. Is it because I pasted links in? I put the links for your two classes. When I called the shop Bonnie was kind of hectic and said she couldn’t sign me up anyway it’s all done online so to go to the web site.

I really wish I could come but with COVID up not down I just can’t.

Looking forward to starting favorites though 😊

Blessings for safety through this weekend’s storm! You and your family have had enough excitement for one winter!!
