It is June 1st and time to download the 6th Block of the Month in our “Favorites” quilt along. Notice that the Half-Dresden Plates form the center portions of the rows above and below the center medallion. They are centered above and below the Nine Patch units (BOM #2).
Some of you have voiced concern over the difficulty of making these blocks, but I want to erase your fears. The Dresden wedge ruler makes rotary cutting a breeze, and the machine applique is unbelievably easy. So hustle to the “Favorites BOM QAL” page listed in the blog menu and download the instructions.
Pressing tip: After sewing pairs of wedges together, press the seams open. Then add a pair of wedges to another pair, and press the seams open. Pressing the seams open avoids skewing the wedges as you move the iron around the half circle.
I can’t wait to see your beautiful Half-Dresdens! Send pictures to firstname.lastname@example.org.
